People rescued after possible tornado rips through Delaware County

Update (1:00 a.m.): According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol three people were reported with minor injuries from a possible tornado in Jay, Oklahoma.

Original Story: Several people were safely rescued after trees fell on homes trapping them inside after a possible tornado ripped through Delaware County late Wednesday.

Delaware County Sheriff, Harlan Moore, said from what he can see at least 6 homes were destroyed near Jay, Oklahoma.

“So far we have had no reports of injuries which is good,” Moore said. ” There are a lot of trees down in the east part of the county blocking roads.”

Sheriff Moore stressed people need to stay home and off the roads so emergency personnel can do their job and get to people in need. 

Emergency crews are working to clear storm debris and ensuring the safety of others.

Moore said crews are preparing for another line of storms to move into the area early Thursday.
