Plane With Low Fuel Makes Safe Landing at XNA

News

HIGHFILL, Ark. (KFTA) — An airplane at XNA sounded the alarms trying to make an emergency landing due to low fuel.

The plane radioed to the air traffic control tower prompting the emergency protocol and fire trucks to be on standby nearby.

XNA Executive Director Kelly Johnson said the plane landed safely and that this was a good learning opportunity for her staff.

“It’s a good drill for us, but I’m sure the pilot wasn’t real thrilled about providing us that opportunity,” Johnson said.

Johnson said they have anywhere between 20 and 25 of these alerts a year.
