FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Police officers across the state will be cracking down on speeding this weekend.
As part of an effort to make highway travel safer, police will take part in the ‘obey the sign, or pay the fine’ operation.
Officers taking part in the operation will have a zero-tolerance approach to anyone driving over the limit.
Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that speeding was a factor in more than 25 percent of all deadly crashes in the U.S. in 2015.
There were almost 100 speeding-related deaths in Arkansas in that same year.
