Police: Man Arrested for Pointing Rifle at Officers

The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on aggravated assault against law enforcement on Thursday, Oct. 13

According to the SCSO, officers responded to a call in reference to a dog that was shot by a neighbor. Deputies went to the residence of 70-year-old Bruce Sampson.

Officers said Sampson would not fully reveal himself at his doorway and was belligerent. Officers said they asked Sampson to reveal his hands and after several seconds, Sampson opened the screen door holding a rifle in the shooting position and pointing at law enforcement.

According to the release, law enforcement pulled out their weapons and ordered Sampson to put down his weapon. Sampson refused to leave his home.

On Friday, Oct. 14, a warrant was issued for Sampson’s arrest. Sampson was taken into custody on Tuesday, Oct. 18. He was held on $12,000 bond.
