FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A Fayetteville man was arrested after police say he fired multiple shots and yelled, “bring it on,” at officers on Saturday evening.
Jerry W. Baker, 51, was booked into the Washington County Detention Center and faces five counts of aggravated assault, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
On Friday at 11 p.m., officers were called to the an area of Willoughby Road after a neighbor reported Baker was firing a gun on his property. He had previously been arrested for a domestic charge in June, authorities said.
When officers arrived, they found Baker walking on his property with a flashlight. They couldn’t tell if he had a weapon.
He eventually walked up his driveway, and immediately afterward, three or four shots were heard coming from the area where Baker was last seen, police said.
At that point, he started to yell, “Bring it on!” He also yelled, “Fire in the hole,” according to his arrest report.
After the shots were fired, he walked back down to the officers with his flashlight and a possible weapon. He then returned to his home, police said.
A crisis negotiator spoke with Baker on the phone and convinced him to walk back down the driveway to the officers. At that point, he was arrested despite angrily telling officers he hadn’t been shooting any of his guns.
On Saturday afternoon, Baker bonded out of the detention center, according to jail records.
