A man is behind bars after police say he cut a woman he met on a dating app early Thursday morning.
Court documents show Melvin Gutierrez was being dropped off by the victim in her car and when he got out he asked her to wait so he could give her a gift. She waited and when he came out he had a chef’s kitchen knife. Documents show he demanded her car and when she struggled with him, he cut her arm twice.
They show in the struggle the victim was pushing on the car horn and screaming for help, as he was saying “I’ll cut you”. After making noise, documents show Gutierrez ran out of the car and the victim drove away.
Investigators say when they found Gutierrez his eyes were bloodshot and watery and he smelled like alcohol. After initially saying his name was “Andy” he told investigators his identity. When Gutierrez was taken to county jail, documents show he got very combative with deputies and had to be placed in a restraining chair.
Melvin Gutierrez is being held on charges of aggravated robbery, battery in the 2nd degree, carrying a weapon, public intoxication and obstructing government operations in the Washington County Jail.
