An Arkansas man, charged with first-degree murder, is out of jail on a $250,000 bond, according to law enforcement officials.

Seventy-five-year-old William Smith was arrested Wednesday, Dec.19, by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) on a first-degree murder charge.

His bond release comes after he made a court appearance on Friday.

Smith admitted to shooting Shane Crawford, 62, in the back with a .22 revolver after getting into a fight with him on Tuesday, at the 16000 block of Applehill Road in Prairie Grove, according to a probable cause report from the WCSO.

The two men have the same address, but live in different homes, according to the report.

Deputies said that Smith left the scene, but was arrested a few hours later, according to the report.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Washington Regional Medical Center where he later died.

Smith’s next court appearance is in January, 2019.
