FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A pregnant woman was hospitalized following a high-speed chase in Johnson County on Wednesday, deputies say.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said she was airlifted to a Russellville hospital.

At 10 a.m., Russellville and Pottsville police began chasing a suspect in a red Ford Mustang, but they weren’t able to catch the car.

At 6 p.m., the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was called to a gas theft case in Hagarville. Deputies found the red Ford Mustang on Arkansas 123 near Arkansas 164. Deputies tried to stop the Mustang, but the driver refused to pull over, leading to another high-speed chase.

After spike strips were set up and two pursuit intervention technique maneuvers were performed by deputies, the suspect finally crashed half a mile north of Ozone.

The driver was taken into custody, and his passenger, a pregnant woman, was injured in the crash. Deputies did not release the driver’s name.
