The Arkansas Department of Health joined multiple local agencies Thursday working to ensure you are protected in the event of a bioterrorism emergency.
The drill focused on an anthrax outbreak and involved seven local agencies including Washington County Emergency Management, Fayetteville Police and Fire, Washington Department of Health, Bentonville Hazmat and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Organizers said the coordinated effort of these drills is essential in evaluating and improving response. “Having everyone at this exercise is obviously very important in giving them the opportunity to work together, test what they need to test like the communication” said Amber Sharp from the Washington County Department of Emergency Management.
Officials say these exercises are important tools that help local, state and federal partners identify areas that can be improved to better protect you during real world incidents.
