For the second year in a row, the president addressed the anti-abortion March for Life.
Vice President Mike Pence and Mrs. Pence spoke live to the crowd and introduced President Donald Trump’s taped address to thousands of people from around the country who traveled to Washington, D.C. for the 46th annual event.
Participants rallied on the National Mall, then marched to the Capitol and the steps of the Supreme Court.
They were protesting against legal abortions and want the supreme court to overturn its landmark Roe v Wade decision — or congress — to take action to make abortion illegal.
“Those kids who are being aborted. They don’t have a voice to speak, so someone has to speak for them,” said Justin Begley of Buffalo, N.Y.
“Know that you have an unwavering ally in someone has to speak for them,” Pence said.
They weren’t the only ones making their voices heard.
Kelly Cavanaugh said she and others came to the steps of the Supreme Court to let the crowd know there are plenty of Americans who support abortion rights.
“This is my body, my uterus, and I should have a say as to what goes on,” said Kelly Cavanaugh of Alexandria, Va.
