Several tax increases could bring extra revenue for Washington County and one of those is a property tax hike.
The current county property tax stands 3.9 mills.
It generates nearly $12.5 million in tax revenue. The new proposal would make it 5 mills.
Nearly $16.5 million in tax revenue would come in if it is passed by the quorum court.
For taxpayers owning a $100,000 property, the proposal would equal to an extra $22 a year in property tax.
Currently, five mills is the highest a county can tax on properties without voter approval.
The Washington County quorum court will meet tonight to talk about the millage increase.
