WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA)– Some races in Washington County were under scrutiny earlier today, with more than 300 provisional ballots still pending as of this morning.
But, Washington County Election Coordinator Jennifer Price said none of the outcomes of these tight races will change.
One race that was particularly close today was the District 89 race in the Arkansas House of Representatives.
30 votes is all that separated the representative-elect from the incumbent.
Democrat Megan Godfrey took the seat with 1,857 votes, narrowly defeating Republican incumbent Jeff Williams, who earned 1,827 votes.
The chance that the final count of the provisional ballots could change the result wasn’t likely because District 89 in Springdale only covers a small portion of Washington County, leaving little room for those ballots to make much of a difference.
Even before the outcome was clear, Representative Elect Megan Godfrey was confident she’d stay on top.
We reached out to incumbent Jeff Williams multiple times, but he has yet to comment.
