Puppy Decapitated in Fort Smith, Suspect Still Unknown

News

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KFTA) — Fort Smith police are trying to find the person who cut off a puppy’s head.

Police were called to a residence in the 700 block of North 34th Street Saturday.

Police spoke with two women who said they arrived home at 2 a.m. and discovered that one of their puppies had been decapitated, according to a police report.

One of the women said she last saw their dogs at 10 p.m. when she came home to feed them, and that all the dogs were fine, according to the report.

When they returned at 2 a.m., the larger dogs were outside of the fence, which they said was unusual.

They then found the decapitated puppy’s body by the kennel. The puppy’s head could not be found, the report states.

Officer Kelsey Sharp said in the report that the decapitation appeared to be a clean cut and that the gate was left open in the backyard, “… suggesting that someone came onto the property and cut the dog’s head off with something sharp.”

The two women could not think of anyone they knew who would commit such an act.

Anyone with information about who killed the puppy is asked to contact Fort Smith police at (479) 709-5100.
