‘Random Act of Violence’ Leaves Woman Stabbed in Fort Smith


FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A woman was stabbed in a “random act of violence” in Fort Smith on Wednesday, authorities say. 

The Fort Smith Police Department said 44-year-old Anong Wendy Chanthavongsy was attacked by 26-year-old Elijah Reed while jogging on a walking trail at the Fort Smith National Historic Site near the Arkansas River. 

Chanthavongsy suffered multiple stab wounds to her back, head and neck area and she is currently in stable condition. 

Reed is in custody and is being charged with 1st Degree Battery, police said
