FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) — Technology leaders were able to learn more about one of the biggest electric power research facilities in the country, located here in Northwest Arkansas.
The National Center for Reliable Electric Power Transmission (NCREPT) is on the University of Arkansas campus.
It’s run by University of Arkansas Distinguished Professor Alan Mantooth.
He and local business leaders that use NCREPT spoke about how the facility is improving electric power for the future.
“You have the cyber people right alongside the power electronics people, right alongside the power systems people, right alongside the packaging people, all of them in one unified effort to try to build better systems,” Mantooth said.
Mantooth said this is the only facility at a university that has every division working together to solve these problems from all angles.
