Forget boring toppings like lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. One restaurant has a more exciting ingredient for your burger. They are serving up burgers with a kick…that’s because what’s on top of it has eight legs! No need to adjust your screen that’s a giant, hairy tarantula you’re looking at. It’s part of Exotic Meat Month at a restaurant in North Carolina. ‘The tarantula burger’ which features pasture raised beef, gruyere cheese, spicy chili sauce and an oven roasted tarantula. Guests wanting to try the burger have to sign up for a ‘tarantula raffle’ since there are only 18 zebra tarantulas available for customers. The burger is $30 and a ticket a day is drawn until the tarantulas run out. Other burgers offered at the restaurant this month include alligator, iguana, python, bison, turtle and bugs.
For first time in more than 30 years, an American woman has won the Boston Marathon. Desiree (Desi) Linden, a two-time Olympian, finished in an unofficial time of 2:39:54. She took the lead from Kenya’s Gladys Chesir just before mile 22 and never looked back. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t working in favor of participants with wind, rain and cold and temps in the 40s at the start of the race. The Boston Athletic Association says the race has never been canceled due to weather. Forbes reports that over 29,000 runners registered for the race.
