FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — UPDATE: Both lanes will be closed for repairs. Traffic will be diverted two blocks over to 12th Street and onto Garrison to resume normal highway access.

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Part of a road in downtown Fort Smith will be closed after it collapsed on May 10.

The road collapsed at the intersection of Highway 64 and A Street, according to iDrive Arkansas.

iDrive Arkansas says the reason the road collapsed was due to a pipe or culvert failure.

The right lane will be closed until repairs can be made.
