The local outreach continues for federal workers facing tough times without their paychecks.
The First United Methodist Church in Rogers offered a free lunch for furloughed government workers Thursday.
The meal was served at the church on elm street.
Senior Pastor Michael Mattox also made sure there was more than just food available for those who came in.
“Just the basic needs that any household would have, like cleaning supplies and toiletries. So we’ve put them together free of charge and hope that the folks will take a sack full home with them today,” said Rogers First United Methodist Senior Pastor Michael Mattox.
Federal employees from various departments — including the Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Federal Housing Administration — were invited to attend.
