More roundabouts are on the way for the City of Rogers
Multiple roundabouts are in the works throughout the city to improve traffic flow, according to John McCurdy, the director of Community Development for the city.
The city will begin construction this summer on roundabouts at Northgate Road, Champions Drive and J.B. Hunt Drive along Pinnacle Hills Parkway.
Capacity issues are one of the main reasons the roundabouts are being built in Uptown Rogers instead of new lanes.
“A roundabout allows cars to flow continuously through the intersection and therefore it reduces the log jams you see when you got a bunch of people stopped at a red light, and then the light turns green and everybody goes off together and you think the roads real crowded cause you’re in the middle of this group of cars, but as soon as that group goes by, there’s a bunch of empty street,” McCurdy said.
McCurdy said the best way to plan for the future for a growing city is to embrace roundabouts.
