Rogers Teacher Receives Grant

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) – A Rogers physical education teacher was awarded with a surprise Thursday that will go a long way.

The Rogers Public Education Foundation awarded Amy Lee from Oakdale Middle School a grant of over $23,000 to be used for outdoor education.

Local outdoors enthusiast George Merwin left more than $100,000 to the Rogers Foundation in his legacy.

The money will be used on equipment such as climbing wall mats, archery equipment, bikes, helmets and a variety of other items.

“I really wanted it for these kids because these kids don’t get to experience a lot of it based on the economic background of these kids, so i really wanted this new equipment for them,” Lee said

The foundation awarded five additional orchestra grants this morning to teachers across the Rogers School District.
