Runners braved the bitter cold Saturday morning for the third annual Frozen Toes 15k trail races.
Race time temperature in Fayetteville hovered around 20 degrees, and each racer layered head to toe to get in on the action.
The 15k, which has a running portion and a mountain biking event, goes through almost all of the trails in the Kessler Track System, many of which are brand new.
“We know that trail runners and mountain bikers are hard core and ready to brave the elements. We are really excited this year because we have new trails apart of the Kessler trail system so its a great chance to get both user groups out to appreciate those trails,” Tiffany Hoover the Assistant Recreation Superintendent of Fayetteville Parks and Recreation said.
As a reward at the end of the race, runners were treated with hot soup and chili for a run well done.
