Runners from across the state and around the country came together to run in the 43rd annual Hogeye Marathon.
This is the race’s third year to start and finish in Springdale, giving athletes more of a flat surface to run instead of the hilly terrain in Fayetteville.
Tabby Holmes is in her 12th year as director for the marathon and said with the nice weather, came a pretty decent turnout.
“We were pumping up the jams, we had people who were very excited, we had people from almost every state and we had a lady register from South Africa,” Hogeye Marathon Race Director Tabby Holmes, said. “It was an amazing turnout and great weather.”
The first Hogeye Marathon took place in 1977 in Hogeye, Arkansas, with the goal of promoting healthy lifestyles through running.
All the money raised benefits local nonprofits that support the Northwest, Arkansas, community.
