It was just another day for Washington County Sergeant TJ Rennie and his K9 Companion, Ranger, until a call came in from a brother and sister who were lost off the trail at Lake Wedington.
“I guess it was kind of a normal day. Normal calls I guess until we got this one,” said Sgt. TJ Rennie.
“This was our first missing person,” said Rennie.
The search became even more urgent after one of the hikers started having seizures.
“It was getting dark and we knew we needed to find them as quick as we could, so that’s when we got him out,” said Rennie.
Thank goodness he did. Ranger put his nose to the ground, helping find the hikers.
“He pulled me up the side of the hill to them, and he just, he knew that he did what he was supposed to do,” said Rennie.
Ranger earned his badge that night, bringing the brother and sister home safely.
“This is probably the best thing that I’ve been a part of,” said Rennie.
We are glad Ranger and Sergeant Rennie are part of the Washington County Sheriff’s office, keeping NWA the best place to call home.
“We’re a part of the community just like everybody else. We have families just like everybody else does, and this is our job we’re sworn to protect the people and that’s what we do,” said Rennie..
