The Salvation Army got quite the donation in one of its red kettles in Missouri last week.
Someone dropped off a unique gold coin. The rare coin is worth about $1,300.
The Salvation Army doesn’t know who made the donation.
Although the organization has gotten gold coins in other parts of the country, this is the first time it’s happened in Jefferson City.
“I was kind of shocked because I’ve never had anybody do this, I have never had anybody drop that kind of coin in my kettle,” Charles Clark says.
A spokesman for the Salvation Army says the charity plans to sell the coin and use the money for its community projects.
