Senator Tom Cotton made a stop in Springdale to update constituents on what’s happening in Washington D.C.
Cotton spoke with the city’s Chamber of Commerce on how D.C. politics may affect Northwest Arkansas.
Cotton also covered the topic of opioiod addiction and explains why it’s so important to visit our region now that the legislative session is over.
“We lose an Arkansan every day to a drug overdose. We lose 70,000 a year in this country, more than the Vietnam War in it’s total period,” Cotton said. “We’ve taken steps to make sure people have access to care, treatment and rehabilitation if they’ve succumbed to addiction.”
Cotton said he plans to crack down on drug trafficking. He has introduced legislation that will increase penalties for fentanyl traffickers.
