The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM), Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), Benton County Emergency Management and the engineering firm Ensafe, were in Bella Vista at the site of the Trafalgar Road ‘stump dump’ Friday, January 4.

Engineers are still working on a plan to extinguish the fire in a safe manner and “we hope to know more soon,” according to a City of Bella Vista website that’s dedicated solely to ‘stump dump’ updates and information.

The ADEQ is the lead agency on the project, according to the website.

On January 2, Governor Hutchinson signed an emergency declaration to streamline the process for getting funds issued to correct the problem.
