BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA)– After almost 50 years in its current spot, Walmart’s home office is moving; adding hundreds of acres of space for employees.
The new 350 acre campus will give employees access to natural light, expanded options for food, convenient parking, fitness options and even a child care facility.
This on top of 15 acres of lakes, thousands of trees and bike trails.
With the building materials being regionally sourced, Governor Asa Hutchinson said this will impact more than current employees.
It will create jobs for various groups including loggers and those producing the timber for construction.
“The fact that they chose a really new design of the structure, which will be cross laminated timber, using southern pine coming from South Arkansas, that we have such an abundant supply, this is a real commitment of Walmart to the state of Arkansas,” he said.
Demolition and construction will begin this summer.
