Siloam Springs Hosts Community Bike Safety Program

News

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (KFTA) — The city of Siloam Springs is teaching the younger generation how to properly ride bikes around town.

The police and fire departments taught kids how to wear a helmet, perform hand signals and learn the rules of the road as part of its Community Bike Safety Program.

After a PowerPoint presentation, Siloam Springs Bike Safety Team took the kids for a ride around town.

“It’s always good for the police especially and the fire doing things with them, getting to know them, getting to know us so they’re not scared to come up to us, see us at the station,” said Joshua Spencer, firefighter and paramedic for Siloam Springs.

This is the first bike safety program for the city, and Spencer said he hopes more children will participate next year.
