Siloam Springs Man Gets Life Sentence for Raping Young Girl

News

BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KFTA) — A Siloam Springs man has been found guilty of raping a 10-year-old girl.

Jose Garcia-Chicol, 34, of Siloam Springs was convicted of rape and sentenced to life in prison last week.

Garcia-Chicol was arrested in December after the victim spoke with authorities.

Benton County Prosecuting Attorney Nathan Smith made the following statement on the conviction of Garcia-Chicol.

“A man’s abuse of a child is among the most repugnant and evil acts imaginable.  I am grateful that the jury imposed a life sentence on this defendant, who preyed on his own stepdaughter.  I admire the work of law enforcement, Deputy Prosecutors Tyler Williams and Katie Fisher, and most of all the victim, who had the courage to testify against her abuser.”

Garcia-Chicol had no prior criminal history.
