Spanker Creek Bridge in Benton County will close starting on Dec. 3 for a complete replacement.
The bridge is located on Spanker Creek Road, just north of West McNelly Road.
Officials say the bridge is currently too short and the deck is too low, which leads to washout and flooding any time there is heavy rain.
The county will replace the bridge with a 100-foot-long structure, which will increase the current length by about 50 feet, according to the news release.
The work is expected to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Dec. 3 and should be completed by May 2019.
Drivers who travel over Spanker Creek Bridge should begin taking detour routes now.
