Special Prosecutor Requested for Investigation into Centerton PD

News

Benton County’s prosecuting attorney has requested a special prosecutor investigate all allegations of misconduct made against the Centerton police chief and a police captain.

Prosecutor Nathan Smith said Arkansas State Police completed its investigation earlier this week into the Centerton Police Department. Police Chief Cody Harper and Capt. Kris Arthur were accused of violating the Arkansas speed trap law and of making suspicious purchases using city credit cards.

Smith said he did not find that the department violated the Arkansas speed trap law, but investigators did find potential wrongdoing with the city’s credit cards, funds and city property.

The special prosecutor will be assigned by a state agency out of Little Rock.

No charges have been filed as of Thursday. Harper and Arthur are on paid administrative leave.
