The American Cancer Society of Northwest Arkansas’ ‘Real Men Wear Pink’ campaign smashed its fundraising goal.

During the month of October, twelve men from the community were challenged to wear something pink every day to help raise awareness of breast cancer. They also wore pink to raise money.

On Wednesday, the men who took part in the campaign as candidates  were given a big thank you at Blakeman’s Fine Jewelry in Rogers for going well beyond their goal; raising about $114,000.

American Cancer Society of Northwest Arkansas senior director Jen Wasem said “The original goal was $50 [thousand], which we felt was really lofty compared to last year when we hit $20,000. So they absolutely represented Northwest Arkansas and the Mid-South division for the American Cancer Society.”

KNWA was recognized for our part in the campaign. The American Cancer Society kindly included our own Nate Kuester as an honorary member of the team. However it was the 12 men, like Ben Hasan and Brad Davis — were the two top earners — that did the heavy lifting. One-hundred percent of the money raised goes toward breast cancer research.
