SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA) — A Springdale born and bred boy has been selected to be the only Arkansan to play for team USA in the 12U Pan-Am Baseball Championship.
Ross Felder,12, was throwing fast balls from the mound today in preparation for the international competition.
Thousands of players were in the pool to pick from to create an 18-man roster, which will represent the US.
Ross was put to the test to land a spot on the team.
He said it has been quite the experience getting to be a part of something as big as this.
“It’s just been crazy for me and it’s been crazy for my whole family honestly. I’ve just been giving it 110 percent,” said Ross Felder, 12U Team USA.
Ross’ father also had something to say about his son’s accomplishments.
“They scouted literally 8,000 kids to get this final team and they have been doing this along time and they know what they are looking for and so when they selected us for that next step it was just like wow,” said Mike Felder, father of Ross.
Team USA will look to secure its first ever gold medal at the Pan-Am “A” Championships, beginning August 25 in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
