An awards ceremony was held for the Springdale Police Department Friday honoring the outstanding achievements of its officers.
The ceremony awarded everything from officer and supervisor of the year to recognizing promotions within the department.
Three Medals of Valor were also awarded — two for the shootout at Thompson and Don Tyson and the other for a shootout in Washington County.
“They were in a lot of danger and they performed professionally and they did their duty and they went above and beyond in both situations,” said Spingdale Police Chief Mike Peters.
Civilian employee of the year, dispatcher of the year and other accommodations were also awarded during the ceremony.
