Springdale Police Look Forward to Criminal Justice Building

SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KFTA) — The Springdale Police Department is excited about the new Criminal Justice Building, which is expected to be completed in 2020.

Take a look at this rendering, which shows a connected police department, city prosecutor’s office and district courts, which will eventually connect to a remodeled city hall.

Springdale Police Department Capt. Derek Hudson said the new facility will make communication easier for the department .

“Right now, we’re in about three separate buildings for the police department. So for me, if I wanted to talk to a detective or detective division, I’ve gotta go outside, walk a couple blocks down the street to get over to those guys,” Hudson said.

“With this new building, the new police station and all the related buildings, we’re planning as best we can for growth as well,” said Springdale Mayor Doug Sprouse. “We’re programming growth into that. So, hopefully these buildings will last us a long, long time.”

Groundbreaking is expected in spring of 2019, expanding the building to the corner of Spring Street and Huntsville Avenue.
