FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) – One local middle school used the Olympics to make learning more fun for students.
Teachers at Hellstern Middle School based their lessons on this year’s games, and the athletes that are competing.
On Friday, each team competed in an opening ceremony just like in the real games.
One teacher said it’s the best way to engage students with things outside of their immediate surroundings.
“We just wanted to have some fun. We’ve been stuck inside, it’s been cold, and we wanted to kind of relate what’s going on in the real world with what’s going on in school,” said Kim Krueger, math teacher.
The classes will be Olympics based for the next two weeks, before they return to normal.
