SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KFTA) — The Springdale Municipal Airport is wanting to purchase land to provide quicker access to and from downtown.
City leaders are focusing on property located by the northwest corner of the airport which borders Emma Avenue.
The goal is to add a guest terminal for business executives and make it more convenient for them to access downtown.
The city is waiting on a review on an appraisal for the land before it can move forward in making plans to purchase it.
Right now, the property is occupied by two homes and two businesses.
“We’re actually prohibited from talking to them about it until we have appraisals in hand so we can talk to them about the value of it,” said Wyman Morgan, Springdale’s financial director.
Morgan adds it could take between two and ten years for the expansion to come to fruition due to finances and funding.
