A Har-Ber High School student was arrested after he brought one of the guns stole from Prairie Grove to school.
The 17-year-old male student was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Springdale Police Department, according to a Police Department news release.
Authorities have confirmed that the gun is one of the around 70 guns recently stolen from Ace Hardware in Prairie Grove.
School officials were notified at 2 p.m. that a student was possibly on campus with a firearm.
“The school resource officer along with the administration of HarBer High School worked quickly in placing the school on ALERT status while they investigated the report,” the news release states.
School officials quickly identified and located the student.
“The student was searched and an unloaded pistol was located in his possession,” the news release states.
Authorities further investigated and learned that the gun was reported stolen out of Prairie Grove.
Four juveniles have already been arrested for the burglary at Ace Hardware on West Buchanan Street February 15.
They remain in custody at the Washington County Juvenile Detention Center.
Capt. Jeff O’Brien with PGPD says in the days before these arrests, some of the guns were likely dispersed.
The number of guns that are still missing is not being released at this time since it’s still an active investigation, but there were additional guns recovered this past weekend.
