SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA) — The Springdale Planning Commission met today to update the city’s comprehensive land use plan.
The commission uses a step-by-step process to update the plan every other year to keep up with the demands of the city.
Springdale School Superintendent Jim Rollins spoke Monday about how the district will plan for the future.
It’s one of the biggest individual impacts on the city as more children join the district.
“As schools are developed, it impacts land use development and it’s very important for us to all work together so that we can identify areas of growth, based on school development, and he understand how we’re working and we understand how they’re working,” said Patsy Christie, Springdale planning director.
The commission won’t make the final decision for how land will be developed, but it creates a guide for decisions to be based on.
Commissioners will meet again in April and the plan should be finalized by the fall.
