FORT SMITH (KNWA) — Statewide mass flu vaccine clinics have been announced.
The Sebastian County Health Unit of the Arkansas Department of Health will offer flu vaccinations at the Community Storm Shelter at Ben Geren Park in Fort Smith on Friday from 8 to 6 p.m.
You should bring your insurance cards with you to the flu vaccine clinic, according to the clinic.
If you do not have insurance, or the insurance does not cover flu shots, the vaccine will be available at no charge.
Meanwhile, adult vaccinations will be given today in Springdale.
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences’ Schmieding Caregiver Training Program and Walgreens are working together to provide the vaccinations.
They will be administered from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday morning at the Schmieding Center.
Free parking and refreshments will be available.
As flu season ramps up, the CDC is stressing the importance of vaccination for pregnant women.
A new report reveals only half of expectant moms got a flu shot last winter.
Only 54 percent got the Tdap vaccine, which protects against Tetanus and whooping cough.
Both vaccines are recommended for all pregnant women.
