The Lincoln Consolidated School District is giving substitute teachers a pay raise in an effort to compete with other school districts in Northwest Arkansas.

District Superintendent Mary Ann Spears said in part, “On a daily basis, we go without subs we need.”

She further added, Lincoln is in competition with larger school districts such as Farmington and Prairie Grove to pay substitutes more.

The school board was already planning to increase teacher pay to meet the new state minimum wage, which would pay substitutes $70 per day, but recently voted to increase pay to $75 dollars a day, hoping to recruit more substitutes to the district.
