Teen Will Be Tried As Adult in Fort Smith Multiple Shooting

A teenager arrested in connection with a Fort Smith triple shooting on December 18, will be tried as an adult, according to the Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD).

Jerry Garcia, 17, was taken into custody after police surrounded a home at the 2100 block of North H Street.  Garcia gave himself up without incident, according to police. 

The shooting happened at the 2300 block of 32nd Street in Fort Smith, which is less than half-mile from where Garcia —  and another man, Enrique Rodriguez, 19 — was arrested, according to the FSPD release. 

Police said Garcia shot three people — all in the leg area.

Garcia faces charges of First-Degree Battery, 2 counts Second-Degree Battery, Possession, with intent to deliver, Marijuana. He has requested a lawyer, according to police.

Rodriguez was arrested for Obstructing Governmental Operations on Dec. 18.
