The sixth episode of True Detective airs on February, 10, and the NWA area continues to bask in the spotlight.
Not only did the HBO series use local houses and streets to tell its story, but it also employed the work of local artists as well.
Art ventures in Fayetteville helped curate the pieces used for the show and helped the artists get some exposure.
One artist said she had nine different works of her featured.
“Even though they fade in the background in the films,” artist Lee Ann Dodson said. “It’s just special.”
“My first reaction was “Me?” artist Gary Johnson said. “It was an interesting reaction because I honestly didn’t know what to expect. It just came out of the blue.”
The artists did get compensated for renting out their work, but the exact amount has not been disclosed.
