The University of Arkansas is celebrating African American influence on American music with the 2018 Black Music Symposium.
The symposium will feature workshops, lectures and performances of well known musicians.
This year feature Lee Finkelstein and bobby Harden, two original members of the blues Brothers.
One instructor at the university says one of his goals is to expose his students to a wide array of acts.
Jake Hertzog, Guitar instructor, at the University of Arkansas said, “it’s very important that not only do we give our students wonderful jazz and classical music opportunities, but we want to give them opportunities to work with masters in the commercial pop music world”.
