Time Ticking Away on Springdale’s Chances to Build New School

News

Time is running out for Springdale to build a new elementary school.

The district applied and was approved for funding for it’s nineteenth elementary school in 2016, and only have until the fall of 2021 to build it or they’ll lose the funding, according to Springdale Public Schools Communication Director Rick Schaeffer.

“Right now we’re looking at the options of where we want to build it, what kind of school we want to build, but that’s why it’s becoming, not urgent yet, we’re getting closer to that stage,” Schaeffer said.

Schaeffer said the funding will cover half the cost, and the additional money is already in place due to good management.

He also says there would not be an added cost to taxpayers when the school is built.
