Tontitown police arrested a man following a brief pursuit overnight on Friday, January 4, according to a press release.
Officers observed a vehicle driving across grassy areas and over curbs shortly after midnight. The vehicle then pulled back onto Highway 412, when an officer attempted to stop the vehicle for reckless driving.
The vehicle took a right hand turn down Kevin Lane, which is a dead-end street. The vehicle accelerated to speeds over 60 miles per hour, before crashing through a fence into a small wooded area, police said.
The driver exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. The officer began giving commands to stop, but the driver refused.
The officer deployed a taser, which was effective in getting the driver to stop. The driver began to physically fight and flee again, but the officer was able to gain control and place the driver under arrest.
The driver was identified as Brandon Cotton, 35, with an address listed in Odessa, Texas. A firearm was located in the driver’s area of the truck.
Cotton is facing charges of reckless driving, fleeing by vehicle, fleeing by foot, driving while intoxicated, no driver’s license, criminal mischief and possession of a firearm.
