SEBASTIAN COUNTY, Ark. (KFTA) — A storm in Sebastian County caused sirens to be activated for a tornado warning Tuesday morning.

Even though there’s been no official confirmation of a tornado. Officials say they received several reports of downed trees in the White Bluff and Jenny Lind area.

Sebastian County Deputy Director of Emergency Management Travis Cooper said once they got the notification of the tornado warning they turned on the sirens.

“When we sound the sirens, the tornado sirens here in Sebastian County are actually operable from the 911 dispatch,” Cooper said. “We had an individual turning the sirens on as we were getting phone calls through.”

Cooper also says the tornado sirens can be turned on at a regional level, but for the most part once one siren goes off in the county they all go off.
