(via KOLR) — For the first time in eight years, the Phantom Pilot has dropped live turkeys from a low flying plane Saturday in Yellville during the 70th Annual Turkey Trot Festival.

Three turkeys were dropped between 11:00 am and 11:30 am. All three could be seen gliding towards the ground with dozens of children running after them.

The turkey drops occurred in defiance of the Federal Aviation Administration warning that such a move could result in prosecution and jail time. The drops also came in defiance of PETA which has offered a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the Phantom Pilot.

The dropping turkeys were met with great cheers from those in attendance.
