It was an exciting night for Trey O’Dell fans!

The Fayetteville resident hit the national stage Tuesday night and survived the battle round on NBC’s The Voice! He sang “The Chain” with Brittany Kennell.

“The battle round is a duet. You have to work with your partner, but you know that in the end your coach is going to pick one or the other… If you’re smart and if you know you can, you want to work so hard together to make this song as amazing as possible so you can both make it through.”

Both put on a stellar performance, but ultimately Blake Shelton chose Brittany. We caught up with Trey before his battle round to find out what his time was like working with Shelton.

“He’s a country hit machine. He’s so successful in his field. I’ll take anything he says and run with it and use it in my future music and, he’s also really funny and really personable. He’s pretty down to earth too which is good.”

With Brittany still on Team Blake, that meant Trey was up for grabs! That is when Christina Aguilera swooped in and stole him! Trey O’Dell is now officially on Team Christina, and his family was ecstatic in the crowd.

“They’ve always pushed me to go for my dreams and making this happen for them has been my goal. I want to make them proud. My parents, they’re so supportive of me, my whole family is and they want me to do this, they want me to succeed and that’s the best thing.”

The coaches love Trey’s falsetto and range and said his future on the show looks promising. He now moves on to the Knockout Rounds! We will be closely following his journey!
