Trump’s Plans: Day One

News

Throughout Trump’s campaign, he’s made several promises about what will happen on day one in office. Trump is quoted as saying “it’s going to be a very busy first day.”

One of the first things he’s talked about doing, is removing immigrants.

“On day one, I’m going to begin swiftly removing criminal illegal immigrants from this country,” said Trump.

He’s also talked about what he plans to do with guns. He said on his first day, there would be no more gun free zones.

“Day one, we are going to announce our plans to totally re-negotiate NAFTA,” said Trump.

He’s said that his plan is to issue a notification of intent to withdraw from the Trans-pacific partnership, which he calls a potential disaster for our country. Vice President-elect Mike Pence says he expects Trump to hit the ground running on Monday morning. During the campaign he’s said that during Trump’s first week as president there would be a series of executive actions, both to put orders into place and to repeal others.

Since the inauguration is on Friday, Trump says many of the actions are likely to wait until Monday. On Friday, Trump and Pence with go through the ceremony at the capitol at noon. That will be followed by a parade up Pennsylvania Ave. The weekend will be filled with inaugural balls.
